The Adventure of he Seas is a Voyager class ship. This the smallest Royal Caribbean ship we had sailed on. The layout of the ship is the same as the Freedom of the Seas and the Oasis of the Seas. The main difference between this ship and the others is, that there are not as many shops, restaurants , etc. because of the limited space on board.
The ship had been in dry dock in 2014 for some technology updates and is not scheduled for its next dry dock until 2016.
I believe it is due for another, soon to clean things up as well. There are areas all around the ship that need attention. It is not that the ship is dirty, but the wear and tear in the high traffic areas is quite noticeable. These are a few items on our balcony that did not look so good.
The crew was friendly. At the same time there were many that we encountered that didn't seem to care about some passengers.
Robert, our cabin steward kept up with our needs and our cabin was well taken care of each day.
Each night we went to a show, we sat in the same area in the balcony. The server in that area was Gabor. He was friendly and personable. He remembered what we were drinking and offered to get those drinks by name. Of course, he also offered to bring something different if we preferred. This made for another great experience on the ship.
We were locked in our cabin twice do to the locking mechanisms on the door. It took two different calls to maintenance by Robert, our cabin steward to get them to respond. Once the maintenance person arrived, he was friendly and professional. He ended up replacing the entire locking mechanism. Everything worked great for the rest of our cruise.
The food in the Windjammer was not consistent. It seems the food on the first day was the best. It appeared they wanted to put on a show and once we became a captive audience the quality changed from meal to meal. The food, deserts and drinks at the cafe were good for the entire cruise.
The elevators in this ship were atrocious. It took forever to get an elevator, even when no one was waiting for them on the levels we were on. One evening it took six elevators going by to find one you could fit in. There were many times that the elevator would continue going on the passed us even when we had pressed the button stop the elevator at our floor. We ended up hitting the up and down buttons and took the first elevator that had room regardless.
There were many times that we went from deck 9 to deck 14 and the back down to our final destination. For those that like to ride elevators just for fun, this was great.
The weather was nice, not that the captain has any control over that. There were a few times that the ship would rock but that is also outside the control of the crews control. The seas were quite calm during our entire cruise.
Another interesting thing was that the mini bar was not restocked on most days. I guess this is done to get us to the shops to spend more money.
On sea day, the pool area was quite crowded but not so crowded that you couldn't move.
The deck patrol personnel were monitoring the pool deck to ensure that chairs that were not used were to cleared to create space for someone else. They also kept an eye on kids and people doing things that they shouldn't. They also picked up empty drink glasses, helping the bar staff.
For comparison purposes this ship was lots better than the carnival sensation. But, it did not keep up with the Freedom of the Seas or Oasis of the Seas and was no where as nice as the MSC Divina.
