MSC Divina Day 8

Disembarkation and the drive home. This is another day we were dreading based in the reviews we had read. We chose the self service disembarkation option for today. The meant that we had to take our own luggage off the ship which gets you off the ship earlier than everyone else. We had a 7:00 am departure time. We waited in the casino, our designated departure lounge until our group was called. We were off the ship through customs (2nd person in the line) to our car, out of the port and on I95 headed for home before 7:30 am. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience.

Our trip home was uneventful and included a quick stop for breakfast, a side trip to pick up dog food, a trip to the vet to pick up Chloe and Princess and we were home before 1:00pm.

What a great week!!!

MSC Divina Day 7

Today we started our day to the sound of an alarm clock. Not what you want on vacation but we were in great stirrup cay today and we wanted to go over while it was cool enough to enjoy for a while. We ate breakfast as normal. And got our tender tickets. We were in the first group across and were impressed with the island. We think it was quite a bit nicer than coco cay when we were on freedom of the seas. We hung out on the island until t was too hot. Then returned to the ship. The spa was running a 50% off deal on all their services so we both got another massage. Judy had the holistic massage and the therapist worked on her lower back. I had a bamboo massage. There was no way to sleep through this one. It was quite intense but an hour or so afterward I was very relaxed and felt great. Off to lunch we went and then back to the cabin for a nap. That lasted longer than expected. Judy woke up just in time to get us this evenings show which was a tribute to classical operas. As with all the shows it was a well produced show and enjoyable.

We received our disembarking instructions and baggage tags. We are in self service departure and will be leaving the ship as part of the third group at around 7:00am. This means another alarm clock morning.

We delivered our donation to UNICEF charity and delivered our extra tip money to our room steward. He took excellent care of our cabin the entire cruise.

MSC Divina Day 6

Today started like most others. We slept until we were ready to wake up made our way to breakfast and then rested some more before getting ready to go up to get our facials in the spa. The seas are a little rougher today and you can feel the boat rock quite a bit. Still no sea sickness thanks to the Trans dermal patch. Though I did start to get motion sick yesterday on the tour bus so don’t know what the difference is. Tonight’s entertainment is a tribute to Michael Jackson. The theater is going to be crowded so we will need to get there early. We made it for our facials this morning. Both were excellent and we were both very relaxed after. Lunch in the buffet was pretty good today. This afternoon the captain had a question and answer session. He is very personable and seemed very interested in everyone questions and comments.

They make all of the potable water used on board with two desalination and reverse osmosis systems. All waste water is also processed on board and is dumped out to sea when we are roughly 12 miles from shore. The pools are all ocean water. While sailing the water is circulated with ocean water. When in port the water is circulated internally and chlorinated to maintain a proper ph level. The ship burns three types of fuel. They burn a diesel oil in the boilers and the generators burn a low emission diesel in ports and other sensitive areas and regular diesel when in the open ocean. The ship is also equipped with scrubbers so all the exhaust is burned again to reduce the pollutants before being pushed out the stacks. This ship has three thrusters in the front, two in the rear and two propulsion pods and two rudders all used to steer and propel the ship.

The show this evening was great and the singer/dancer who protrayed Michael Jackson did an excellent jog.

MSC Divina Day 5

Today our shore excursion had to meet in the theater at 8:00 so we are sad to say we had to set an alarm clock. This didn’t feel right. We went up for breakfast before we left and this was the first time we could get through the dining room without the crowds. We made it onto our bus without issue and headed off to the El Yunque rain forest. Our driver was very knowledgeable about the area and kept us interested for the entire bus ride each way as well as each of the stops along the way. This is a very beautiful part or this country. Even though we were warned that you must have your id as well as ship card and it was difficult to get back on ship we had no problems at all. After getting on the ship it was time for dinner and a nap before going to this evenings show which is pirates stories. This show was also well done.

MSC Divina Day 4

Our shore excursion today did not depart until after lunch. We spend a leisurely morning eating breakfast and you guessed it resting some more. The shore excursion was a bus tour of the island if St. Maarten (both the French and Dutch sides). The driver was very knowledgeable and we had a great time as we stopped at the different places. Unfortunately a couple of inconsiderate people were late getting on the bus at every stop so we missed one of our stops due to running out of time. This evening we saw the tribute to France. Again the entertainers were very good and put on a great show. We went for dinner after the show. After we made it back to our cabin we were both Hungary again and the food serving places were closed. Off to the M&M store we went again.

MSC Divina Day 3

Our second day at sea today. We decided we needed to relax a little more so we booked a massage for today and facials for our last day at sea on Thursday. Our routine of eat and rest went without any interruptions again today. When we went for our massages we had booked a couples massage but all the rooms were taken so we ended up in separate rooms. Both of us were very happy with the massage we received and figure we should have one everyday.

The show for this evening was a tribute to Italy. The music singers and dancers did a wonderful job putting on this show

MSC Divina Day 2

Well today was the first day in along time we for to wake up without an alarm clock. We went to breakfast. Wandered Around the ship for a while and decided to go back to our cabin. We started reading and both fell a sleep and took a nap. When we woke up it was time to decide if we were gong to our formal dinner or skip it, eat a late lunch and go to the early show, which was what we ended up doing. The show this evening was Alice in Wonderland and was pretty good. We were introduced to the captain and officers. The executive chef got more applause than the captain. We were told to not be surprised if when we woke up in the morning we were in Miami. Wow what an ego he has. Not really he read his speech in at least 5 or 6 languages which was amazing and got him lots of applause. After the show we went to a lounge had a drink and watched tango lessons. No shows or entertainment in the bars or lounges this evening. Back to the cabin to get ready for bed. Since the dining rooms are now closed we are both Hungary. Who cold have guessed. To the M&M Store we go…

MSC Divina Day 1

Got up early this morning for our trip to the port if Miami. Overall the trip was uneventful and traffic was very light.

We arrived at the terminal at around noon and dropped our luggage off. Finding a parking place was a little challenging but not bad either.

Once we got to the terminal we walked straight through security, checked in and walked straight on the ship. The MSC Divina is the most beautiful ship we have been on so far.

When we checked in we found out our cabin number had been changed and quickly figured out our luggage was going to one cabin and we were going to be in another. We went straight to guest services to find out what to do. They noted our file and offered no other assistance.

We wandered the ship getting lost more than once until we found the buffet. The food was good but could have been a little warmer.

Everyone we have talked to or walked past has been very polite and helpful.

We checked out the ship some more spent some time in our beautiful cabin found the buffet again and returned to our cabin hoping for our luggage.

After all the luggage had been distributed for our floor the cabin steward let us know he did not have our bags. We tried to call guest services and they were extremely busy so we walked down to our original cabin. One of our bags was sitting in the hall. We talked to a couple of people delivering bags they found our second bag. We lugged them to our cabin and then made it to the 8pm show, a Tribute to Frank Sinatra.
